What are the criteria for a qualified applicant?
Enrolled for the Spring 2019 semester with plans to attend academic year 2019-2020.
Must have a Stockton GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Some awards are available to full-time undergraduates only and some awards are available
to part-time and full-time graduate students. It depends on the criteria of the award.
What information is needed to be considered a completed file?
You must submit the following for the University Scholarship application:
- Online application
- A 250 - 500 word essay (follow the question prompts in the application, and use the rubric as a guide)
- One letter of recommendation from an instructor (adjunct, part-time professor, full-time
professor) or dean.
You must submit the following for the Holocaust & Genocide Studies and Jewish Studies application:
- Online application
- A 250 - 500 word essay about yourself and your proven interest in Holocaust & Genocide
Studies and Jewish Studies.
- One letter of recommendation from an instructor (adjunct, part-time professor, full-time professor) or dean.
What is the average scholarship dollar amount received?
Scholarship amounts vary between $100 and $2,500 per award.
Who selects recipients to receive these awards?
The Stockton University Scholarship Selection Committee is appointed by the President and consists of deans, professors and representatives of the Stockton University Foundation Board of Directors. They review all applicants and make selections based on the specific criteria for each award.
May the recommendation letter be sent in separately by the faculty or staff member?
No. The recommendation letter must be submitted online. It is your responsibility to ensure that your letter of recommendation from the faculty or staff member is submitted by the application due date.
What scholarships are available for incoming freshmen?
A student planning to attend Stockton as an incoming freshman can explore opportunities through Enrollment Management.
Are current Stockton freshmen eligible to apply for Foundation Scholarships?
Yes, freshmen with an established Stockton GPA after the fall semester are eligible to apply.
When are applications available for Foundation Scholarships?
Applications are available online starting in late January for the upcoming academic year.
Example: Applications for the 2019-2020 academic year are available January 25, 2019.
When are applications due for Foundation Scholarships?
Applications are due March 18, 2019 for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Do I need to renew my application every year?
Yes, you must reapply every year for Foundation Scholarships unless your award letter states that you have received a two-year or a four-year scholarship.
When and how will I be notified of my award status?
You will be notified via your Stockton email address, beginning June 2019.
Will I receive an email only if I am awarded?
No, you will receive an email that states whether you have or have not been selected for a scholarship.
Is there a paper-based application I may fill out instead of the online application?
No, there is no paper-based application available.
